ATTENTION!

Saint Peters Table Tennis Club Players,

I have been informed by the Francis Howell School District (FHSD) that they will be enforcing a gym rental fee on our club. They have had this policy for years, but have not enforced it until now. This will be enforced on July 1st. The cost is $50/hour. Since we play for 3 hours on Mondays and 3 hours on Thursdays, most every week, this would cost us nearly $15,000 per year. We can't afford that. So we need to locate to another location quickly.

I don't have any leads on where we could move our equipment...so I'm soliciting your help in finding a new location. Otherwise, we will have to shut down.

I'm open to any reasonable ideas...
  • Changing days of the week at a different facility
  • Keeping all 12 tables in one location or splitting up the tables in different locations
  • Moving SPTTC out of the Saint Peters area
  • Etc.

We need to keep in mind that this club was established to help promote the sport of table tennis to the general public. So moving the tables to a "restricted facility" (eg., Saint Peters Rec-Plex) could be considered, but forcing people to have a membership at some venue limits the number of people that could make use of our equipment. So these type of locations would be given lower priority in my mind...unless they allowed the general public to practice without their typical membership requirements.

Let's brain storm and see what options might be available to us. Please use your network of contacts to inquire if another location would like to partner with us by allowing us to practice at their site in return for their people being allowed to use our equipment. An empty storage facility or warehouse might work as well as other schools, VFW halls, Senior Centers, Banquet Centers, YMCA's...you get the idea.
